........just from my own commentary like these:-
- transverse engine has to be mounted on transaxle type transmission
which are with one long and another one short drive axle shafts that
would provide excellence handling traction control but hard to get rid
on imbalance shafts when designed.
- paralleling engine such bmw mostly come with long-tail transmission
which gearing direct thier out-put through those 2 drive axles to
balancing thier work loads. pleasenotice that a long-tail transmissions
would mount into 2.0 l. or above engine and very rare to find this
type of trans in any compact cars.........................bye/aircrew
